National Values in Education and Values of Young People

An attempt to study the question of the system of values, ideology which are on the base of moral education of the youth in modern Russia. Two positions are compared: the liberal system of values in the 90s and con-servative ideology with a focus on national cultural etalons. The development of the education system in Rus-sia on a liberal basis, but with the preservation of national values is shown. On the basis of empirical re-search also revealed some conflict between the basic national values proposed by the Ministry of Education and defining the purpose and content of education in the school, and the value orientations of Russian schoolchildren and students.
